There was also a touch rugby tournament with lots of spot prizes including hats, rugby balls umbrellas, bags and a signed all blacks jersey. I participated in the rugby tournament. The school choir, chorale, band and dancers from The maxium dance zone performed.

The learning pit

This is the learning pit...

There are three main points in the learning pit.
1: The start
The start of the learning pit is the first stage of getting through it.
2: The middle
The middle of the learning pit is the part that you want to give up in
3: The end
The end of the learning pit is when you have achieved a goal and have a eureka moment

Term 3 holidays

This holidays I went next door to Bella-Rose's house to watch the rugby on TV. Bella-Rose and I got bored of watching and downloaded an app on her iPad. We played on it until became boring.
We ended up making pancakes for breakfast. Bella-Rose's dad cracked some eggs and put them in the poached egg maker. Bella-Rose got a double yolker. She got very excited (a little too excited).
On the same day every one helped to dig up the dirt in the front garden. Luke Bella-Rose and I found a tree root and tried to dig it up. We made a big hole in the ground.
Luke and Noah took the wood to the garage. There were spiders in the wheel barrow so Bella-Rose and I had to stack it while Noah and Luke stood guard with fresh wood and a rake.

The Mind Lab - Wellington

This Tuesday my class went to The Mind Lab in Petone, Wellington. Bella-Rose and I made up a song on the bus. It's called Little GRi11ers.

Gri11 had to fundraise some money to get there by making and selling products like concrete pots, bunting, candles, tyre ottamans, kitty computers.
During the activities we did Mr Robertson and Miss Gordon took some photos of us:

This is when we were told about the activities
This is me designing my 3D printing
This is the battery powered car called... Splat!

Gri11 is happy after our visit

We split up into four different groups and then did 3D printing, car making, scribble box making and animations.
This is my one:

Little GRi11ers song

This is the song that Bella-Rose and I made on the bus to Mind Lab:

We used the theme song off Little Einsteins but changed the lyrics so they related to Gri11.

Rippa Rugby

I am am so excited! My school Rippa Rugby team has gotten into the National tournament. We have been training hard with our two coaches: Mr Robertson and Mr Healey. Mr R has organised some games. Last week we played Hunterville twice and won both times (they were the Wanganui champions)

On Sunday the 13th of September 2015 I will be competing. The team we got is Italy. We have a country because the organisers are basing it on the rugby world cup.

Go Italy

Dance New Zealand Made

Next Wednesday the College Street dance NZ made team will be competing at the Regent. Miss Blewitt choreographed our dance to perfection. The team has worked very hard trying to make the dance better. This is the logo

Matrix making

This Thursday Lily, Bella-Rose, Georgia, Hannah, Piper and myself got to create the agency matrix. Lily and Georgia named it "the chickens foot" because the road parted 3 ways. We painted it pink, sea green, blue and white (that was just the base though). It was great fun! Here are some photos:

Pretty cool.

My highlight of term 2

My highlight was on the second to last day of the school term when our class had a fun day. We were allowed to bring a sleeping bag, snacks and board games but best of all we wore pyjamas to school! GRi11 watched a movie called Spacejump (Bugs bunny starred in it)

What a day!!! 😄😛

Science-solar system

For two weeks the senior syndicate had to learn about the solar system. One of the things my class had to do was estimate the sizes of the planets in our solar system (we used play dough). This is a picture of my estimations.

A trip around planet Earth

Earth is home to over 7 billion human beings.

When you are looking for Earth this might help you. Earth is located in between Venus and Mars. The planet is 149,600,000 km or 93,000,000 miles away from the sun.

There are more living creatures like pets (they are creatures that vary in sizes and shapes and feel different), Wild animals (like african animals, city animals and many more). Never eat pets or wild animals unless they are packaged (packaging is what food and materials is in).

When in Earth remember that you will need a supply of money. Different countries will have different coins and notes. The humans will also call money different things eg: Europe has euros, Japan has yens and india has an indian rupee (there are more countries and currencies then what is listed).

Hopefully this piece of writing will help you adjust to Earth life.

A soldiers letter

Dear my sweet family,

Today is the second day in new territory. I am worried and not very happy here. All the troops are miserable and it was hard to sleep on the big ship when I was coming to Gallipoli. I’ve made friends with some guys called Henry Pearce, Luke Martin, George Nagel, and Bruce Lloyd. I live in a trench now (a trench is a long deep hole that we shoot from). It is always loud and muddy. I will write to you soon again.

Love from,

your darling son, Bob

My favourite thing to do

My favourite thing to do is drawing. It is fun and I can draw anything I want! I can add colours, shapes, glitter and more. You can make lots of different colours just by pressing harder or lighter on a pencil.

TTS (Traditional teaching style)

The quad was alive with laughing, smiling faces and cheerful teachers. I walked into room 10 and 11 (GRILL). My mouth dropped open in shock, What was going on?

I looked around at the deserted classroom wondering if this was a joke or not.
Ding!!! The school bell had rung. Room 10/11 rushed in and sat on chairs behind behind their named old school desks. Mr Robertson strided into the classroom with
Miss Gordon behind. Mr R’s choice of clothing was weird. He wore shiny black shoes, a pair of dark grey pants with a blue shirt and tie. Miss Gordon's clothes were even weirder. She wore a long kilt that looked like a picnic blanket with a belt tied to it, a white shirt and a dark blue jacket. Miss Gordon stood at a lectern and called out both classes rolls. Next was the national anthem. “Stand” called Miss Gordon in a very strict tone. We stood obediently “We will now sing the national anthem” said Miss Gordon so we sang.

When we had finished it was time for basic facts. A sheet of see through paper with times tables and division facts printed on it was placed on the OHP.  Mr Robertson used a pointer to get us children to read out the basic facts and their answers. “LOUDER” yelled Mr Robertson we obeyed 7x8=56 9x8=72 9x9=81 !!!

It was now time for shakespeare. BORING!!!!!! We read a poem from shakespeare and chose a line to memorise and recite to the class. Then came spelling and dictionary skills. We also had to do stuff with an abukiss.

Ding! the morning tea bell rang “get your lunch boxes out and bite your food on my command… bite! bite! bite! its time for marching practice now”said Mr Robertson in a strict tone. The children of rooms 10 and 11 (grill) lined up across the quad “left, right, left, right” shouted Mr R so we marched swinging our legs while laughing and confused children watched us march. after our marching practise the teachers organised us into play groups and gave us only one hula hoop per play group. each group had a specific area on the quad to play in. After half an hour of pure torture the bell rang again we rushed into the class and sat in our seats. “I didn’t say you could leave did I! “no” we ran back outside to scared to even look back “you can come back inside now” Miss Gordon yelled across the quad.

Room 10 and 11 (Gri11) found out that this WAS all a joke to show us the traditional teaching style. We completed a PMI and a chalk talk about how we felt. While we were doing that Mr R and Miss G came out dressed completely normal!!!!!!!

I’m glad that’s all over.

Maggie's GRi11 song!

The Grill Song
It’s Monday again do I have to get up?
It’s cold outside but it’s warm in here with Ned in my bed.
I dawdle to school dragging my feet, humming in my head my favourite beat.
My friends are here my teachers are cool so I guess It’s ok to be at school.
Even maths can be fun but writing, NEVER!
I love the sports and I love the dance but I wish Mr R would let me do art.

How to do archery at Green Pastures!

Goal: This procedure should tell you how to do archery at Green Pastures.

Step 1: Step up to the tyre and take the bow and arrow carefully from the person using it before you if there is anyone having a go before you. Only point the arrow at the ground or a target.

Step 2: At the end of the arrow there should be a little nook. Put the string in the middle of the nook. There should also be a small shelf on the bow, place the arrow on it. There should be three rubber bits each with the same colour except one. That one separate colour shouldn’t be facing the shelf it should be facing the opposite side of the shelf.

Step 3: Pull back the string  as far as you can but remember the more you pull the string back the further your arrow will go. Now aim for where you want to shoot and let go of the string (warning: Make sure that your finger isn’t guiding the arrow when you pull the string back because  string and you might let go of the string and slice your finger).

Step 4: Find arrow and pick it up. Give to the next person or repeat if you want to.
